 Atlas Ocean Voyages - World Navigator
Atlas Ocean Voyages started sailing in 2021 and currently has 3 sister yachts and they will have a 4th ship debuting in 2028 that will be a state of the art sailing yacht. World Navigator was the first ship to start sailing and it's maiden voyage was August 2021. Atlas Ocean Voyages focuses is luxury expeditions but I think they lean more into the luxury than the expedition.

Suites (all staterooms are considered suites) There are no inside rooms and only a handful of window rooms so that means most rooms will have some type of balcony. I was in a Horizon Suite which has a French Balcony. That is the type that looks like a floor to ceiling window but with the press of a button the top half of the window drops down so that now the top half of the window is open to outside just like standing at a balcony railing. I really like this type of balcony because it gives you more space inside the room and you don't have to actually step outside to go on a balcony. The suites are spacious with many luxurious touches. My room could sleep up to 3 guests thanks to a sleeper sofa. The mini fridge can be stocked with anything you like and since all drinks are included there is no extra charge for that. One thing I love is the glass bottles of water that are refilled every day. The bathrooms are a nice size and I think they might be my favorite shower in a regular room on a cruise so far. I also really enjoy the L'Occitane products. The one thing I felt like the room lacked was storage space. The closet was small and not many drawers at all. We were only onboard for a week so it wasn't too bad but if you were on a longer itinerary and brought more clothes I don't know that there would be enough space for everything. |

Dining Room There is just one Dining Room onboard but it was a lovely space and set up well so that it didn't feel crowded. It kind of reminded me of a river cruise dining room, which makes sense since the company that built the Atlas ships also builds river ships. After about 2 nights most people found a spot they liked and stuck to that. The servers were all so amazing and went out of their way to make everything special. If you asked for something they pretty much did whatever they could to make it happen. My friend that I was traveling with was celebrating her birthday onboard and she mentioned to our server that she loves Champagne with potato chips. That night for her birthday a bowl of fresh made potato chips appeared on our dinner table along with the Champagne. The food was delicious and there were always plenty of options. The menu had the always offered favorites everyday along with a page of things that were just offered that night. Breakfast and Lunch were buffet style but also offered a small menu of things you could order as well. We got to tour the galley which was very cool! It always amazes me how they can cook all these great meals in such a small space. There is also Paula's Pantry just outside the dining room that was always popular too. That was pretty much like the starbucks onboard serving coffees, teas, along with light bites and desserts. I liked to stop by there for a smoothie most mornings and it was great for grabbing a cup of tea after coming in from the Arctic. Entertainment Areas There are 3 spaces onboard for entertainment and gathering. The Dome is up on the top floor at the front of the ship and offered floor to ceiling windows all around so you have a 180 view while cruising and enjoying a drink and some music. This is also where tea time was each afternoon. The Atlas Lounge was down on the Main deck and this is another place for music and drinks and things like the crew talent show which is always a great time! There is also a small theater just off the Atlas Lounge that was used for some of the expedition talks and things like that.
Relaxing Spaces There is a pool with 2 hot tubs onboard along with a nice sized spa and gym. There is also a sauna that is open to all guests. The top deck also has a walking/jogging track. I think you had to go 12 times around to hit a mile. Another cool spot to stop by was the Bridge. The ship has an open bridge policy so as long as the sign on the door said open you could pop in and check out what was going on which was cool.
I really love the size of this ship and the crew were some of the best I have had on a ship. I would absolutely recommend Atlas, however I am not sure they would be my first choice for an expedition. I think they do an excellent job at providing a luxury experience but for me personally I wasn't as happy with the expedition side of it. I think that could be because I really like the science part of expeditions and without a science center onboard you just don't get that same immersion. I would recommend Atlas for all of their other wonderful itineraries or if you want a more relaxed expedition. |
